hi guys. I'm looking to join a club in the new year, and as i seem to attend all your shows for years, you are near the top of my list. you and 1 other.... I own an old Series 3 Landy and I was a member or a local(ish) landy club a few years back, but the relatively short distance seemed like a bit of a trec on a cold jan morning, then when time became a bit more scarce I dropped out... also, as much as I loved it, it was more about the driving in mud than anything else, which is great, but costly in repairs/maintenance...
I love most classics, especially minis and old fords, as well as anything with the green oval...
I was just wondering how many (if any) old land rovers were in the club? Does anyone ever do anything more 'land rovery' in them so as not to completely remove the idea from my mind (responsible greenlining?)
also, my landy is far from being 'mint' or original, but it does all I ask, and is used every day, and I love it... is this a problem?
cheers, Dean
PS its great to see your new website and forum... especially when many seems to be losing the forum idea, I think its a great way to chat informally, and ideas are saved more than on FB

great vehicles, if you have patience...lol just had a 300tdi engine fitted so hopefully my 5 years of woes are over and can focus on some other jobs now, that it needs. seems to be plenty of landys at your shows so was hoping there may be some. I think I'm looking more for the social side nowadays tbh my dad has a Dexta too, and was thinking about some local shows next year

Hi Dean
Its great you have a Landy3 it looks pretty good to me.
We do have quite a bit of social activity like run outs to lunch, BBQs and various other things going on. I dont know if this is the sort of thing you was talking about or wether it was more of a Landy sort of thing.
I am surprised we dont have many more in the club with Landys bearing in mind the area of the country we are in and the farmland around.
If you were thinking of joining our club why not come along to one of our meets to see if its what you would like to do. You would be most welcome by us all. We meet at the Kings Arms in Fratting the last wednesday of the month bying December as we have a break till the new year.
Look forward to seeing you if you do.
Colin Wintle Membership Secretary (acting Chairman)

hi, thanks
just out of interest, are all the cars in the club in pristine condition (or at least aiming to be) as my landy certainly isn't, and I'm not sure I want it to be. I use it every day for work and I like it doing what it does, battle scars and all... :-D
I wouldn't want to be a weak link lol

Hi Dean
The cars in the club are far from Pristine. We have the few that are reasonably smart but most are used as classics therefore have the odd bit needs doing here and there.
It would be good to have you in our club. You would be the 2nd Landy owner in the club if you join.

nice to see somebody looking to join. I am aware theres a red long wheelbase landy in club that is often at shows. yes surprised not more as they are about in Tendring! my son has the 110 van type with winch.off road tyres and wading snorkel. he does go off road now and again but is rare these days. there is a mix of car at shows though many are in excellent condition I have seen one or two I was gob smacked was on road.. so essentially all are welcome. do think about joining at Frating arms. get a feel for the club and its members. aware with loss of out late cub chairman Colin club will change given time. however isnt life about evolving ..in summer you may even see a few club owners bringing pride and joy to Frating. there is a room set aside for members simply wander in with a drink and have a chat etc. meanwhile enjoy your own classic . it is after all probably the most recognised vehicle on the planet
